Open Call for Submissions
The Field Recording Archive will be an ever growing library of field recordings made in numerous differing locations from all around the world. Submission of a recording for inclusion in the archive is available for everyone.
Each recording will be transferred onto cassette tape and will be logged with the date, time, duration and exact location in longitude and latitude co-ordinates, as will be the type of recording device. The Archive will travel between various temporary locations allowing the public to gain access to the recordings. People submitting will also be asked if they wish their recording to be made available on the online archive.
Submission Process
To submit a recording the file needs to preferably be in wav format but other formats will be accepted. Please email thefieldrecordingarchive@hotmail.com stating an interest in submitting and you will receive a link to a dropbox folder where you can upload your files. You will also receive a submission form which will ask you a few qustions so that the recording details mentioned above can be logged. If you wish you can also submit your recording physically via a CD-R.
For the recording to be enetered into the archive we will need its exact location in co-ordinates. For help on how to achieve this, please see the page entitled ‘logging your location’. If you wish to submit an older recording but you do not have the relevant information you can still submit.
If you are not sure you have the correct equipment to make a recording, most modern mobile phones have a built in recording app. This is usually a dictaphone but the quality is most often adequate for use in field recordings.
